Marcos Pushes for AI-Driven Growth, Launches Human-Centered AI Initiative
Marcos launches the Philippine AI Program Framework to future-proof the nation’s economy.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Friday that the Philippines aims to harness artificial intelligence (AI) to boost economic growth while fostering a harmonized, human-centered AI ecosystem across Southeast Asia.
“At the national level, we are leveraging AI as an engine for development. We are establishing the Philippine AI Program Framework for the future-proofing of our economy,” Marcos said during the launch of Accelerating Governance and Adaptive Pedagogy through Artificial Intelligence (AGAP.AI).
The project, spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd), was unveiled at Quezon City Science High School and is designed to integrate AI into governance and education. AGAP.AI aims to modernize learning approaches while ensuring that AI adoption remains aligned with human-centered principles.
Marcos emphasized that AI is not just a technological tool but a strategic driver for economic resilience and regional collaboration. By developing a coordinated AI framework, the Philippines hopes to position itself at the forefront of Southeast Asia’s emerging digital economy while promoting ethical and responsible AI use.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to preparing both students and public institutions for an AI-powered future, ensuring that innovation supports sustainable growth, workforce development, and equitable access to technology.
