Astera Labs Expands Taiwan Operations to Speed Up Global AI Infrastructure Development
Taipei, Taiwan — Astera Labs has announced a major expansion of its operations in Taiwan as the company seeks to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation artificial intelligence infrastructure worldwide.
The semiconductor connectivity solutions provider revealed plans to grow its engineering teams and expand its Cloud-Scale Interop Lab, strengthening collaboration with leading AI platform providers and Taiwan-based manufacturing partners. The move comes as demand for AI computing capacity continues to surge, driven by the rapid development of advanced AI models.
According to Astera Labs, Taiwan plays a critical role in the global AI supply chain, making it an ideal location for closer coordination between chip designers, system manufacturers, and technology partners. By increasing its presence in the region, the company aims to shorten product development cycles, improve system validation processes, and bring AI infrastructure platforms to market more quickly.
The expanded operations will support collaboration with major technology companies including AMD, Arm, Intel, and NVIDIA, as well as Taiwan's leading original design manufacturers such as GIGABYTE, Ingrasys, Inventec, Quanta Cloud Technology, and Wiwynn. Together, these companies are working to develop rack-scale AI systems capable of supporting large-scale training and inference workloads.
Astera Labs said the initiative will also enhance its capabilities in hardware engineering, quality assurance, technical support, and engineering operations. These improvements are expected to help customers identify and resolve issues faster during product qualification and deployment.
The expansion builds on the company's recent launch of its Scorpio fabric switch family, a technology designed to improve connectivity and performance in large AI computing environments.
"Taiwan is where the global AI supply chain gets built," said Campbell Kan, Vice President of Asia Sales and Taiwan General Manager at Astera Labs. He noted that the company's larger footprint in the region will help customers accelerate the transition from product qualification to deployment, allowing new AI computing capacity to come online faster.
As competition intensifies in the global AI industry, Astera Labs' investment underscores Taiwan's growing importance as a hub for AI infrastructure innovation and manufacturing.
