What’s Really Going On Behind the eGovPH App?
I’ve been using the eGovPH app more lately. At first, I just wanted to try its “AI features.” But then I decided to explore the rest of it.
What I found was not very encouraging.
A lot of the time, the app doesn’t feel like a real app. When I click on some services, it just opens a website inside. That makes me wonder why the app exists at all.
Then I tried some of the newer features. “Report.” “Weather.” “Signal.” They sound helpful. But they didn’t work well.
I got blank screens. The app froze. One time, it even restarted. It didn’t feel stable. And for something related to government services, that’s a big problem. (See video)
This made me ask a simple question: is this app being supported properly? Because it doesn’t feel like it.
When I looked online, I saw that many people use the app mostly for travel. Things like airport forms. That’s useful, but it’s also very limited.
This app is supposed to do much more than that. It should help people with many government services. It should save time. It should make things easier.
Right now, it doesn’t.
I also came across a report that raised some concerns. It said the government might be spending a lot on cloud services to run systems like this. Large amounts of money, every month. If that’s true, then it raises an important question.
Why doesn’t the app feel better?
The report also talked about using thousands of servers. That kind of setup should make everything fast and reliable. It should be able to handle a lot of users. But that’s not what I experience.
The app feels slow. Some features don’t work at all. There also didn’t seem to be clear explanations for why such big systems were needed. No clear numbers about users or traffic.
That’s worrying. As a user, I don’t expect perfection. But I do expect something that works. Right now, this app doesn’t meet that basic need. That’s frustrating, because it could be so much better.
If it worked well, it could make dealing with government much easier. It could save people time and effort. But to get there, we need to be honest.
Are we building it the right way? Are we using resources wisely? Because if we’re not, then we’re missing a big opportunity.
This app could help millions of people.
But only if it actually works.
