Strengthening AI development in the Philippines
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has officially launched the National AI Center for Research and Innovation (NAICRI) to serve as the country’s central hub for artificial intelligence research, infrastructure, and development programs.
The initiative aims to strengthen the Philippines’ capabilities in AI by supporting scientific studies, technological innovation, and collaborative projects that utilize artificial intelligence across various sectors.
Through NAICRI, the DOST seeks to accelerate the development of AI-driven solutions that can improve public services, boost economic growth, and enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
The center will also provide the necessary infrastructure and resources for researchers, government agencies, academic institutions, and industry partners to collaborate on AI-related projects and innovations.
By establishing NAICRI, the government hopes to position the Philippines as a growing hub for artificial intelligence research and innovation in the region while promoting responsible and inclusive use of emerging technologies.
