Bonifacio Was Not Just a Hero. He Was a Warning. And the Warning Still Applies Today.
Every November 30, inuulit natin ang pangalan ni Andres Bonifacio.
Pero ang tanong:
naiintindihan ba talaga natin ang pinaglaban niya?
O yearly tradition nalang siya na walang laman?
Bonifacio was not just a revolutionary.
He was a mirror — at kahit ngayon, kung titigan natin, makikita pa rin natin ang sarili nating bansa sa mata niya.
Bonifacio fought the same enemies we still face today.
Hindi lang dayuhan ang kalaban niya.
Ang tunay na humarang sa kanya ay:
• power struggles
• political ego
• internal betrayal
• people who wanted the title more than the mission
Sounds familiar?
Because 128 years later, andito pa rin tayo.
Naglalakad sa parehong gubat na tinahak ni Supremo.
He didn’t come from wealth. He came from truth.
And that’s why dangerous siya.
Walang political dynasty.
Walang elite family name.
Walang PR team.
Walang script.
Only conviction.
Isang ordinaryong Pilipino na nagising… at nagpasya.
That’s why the system feared him.
That’s why his enemies were not only the colonizers…
but also fellow Filipinos afraid of his truth.
Bonifacio is the symbol of the Filipino who wakes up.
It’s about recognizing that awakening is the real revolution.
Andres Bonifacio stood for:
• awareness
• courage
• accountability
• dignity
• unity in truth
The same things we fight for today.
He died because the truth was inconvenient.
Bonifacio was executed not by foreign enemies…
but by Filipinos who couldn’t accept a leader na galing masa, hindi galing alta.
This is the hardest lesson of his story:
Sometimes the real threat to progress is not the oppressor…
but the Filipino who fears another Filipino’s awakening.
So what is Bonifacio Day in 2025?
It is a reminder that:
• The revolution is not done.
• The enemy is not just external.
• Truth is still the most powerful weapon.
• And the Filipino spirit is still capable of rising.
Hindi tayo nagse-celebrate ng nakaraan.
We are honoring the unfinished mission of a man who believed in a nation that could think, feel, and fight for itself.
